Several years ago and prior to the Liber Civils involvement, this building had a goods lift in which goods from the ground floor were hoisted to higher floors. When this system was originally installed, goods and people were transported in the same hoist. Safety legislation was later introduced that made the transport of goods and people in the same hoist illegal.
As a result, this system needed to be changed.
This build consisted of seven blocks of double-storey storage units, which had a lower specification goods hoist. The client either had to upgrade the storage units to include elevators for people, a very expensive solution, or they needed a different solution to this problem.
The Liber Civils team was able to provide the client with a cost-effective ramp solution.
The Liber Civils team demolished the previous fire escapes and installed concrete ramps to the first floor. The parking lot was redesigned to accommodate the new solution and in a short time, the client was able to continue with business as usual, being fully compliant and without exorbitant elevator costs.
